Las Vegas – Multiple companies will get together at International CES to demonstrate Mobile Emergency Alert System (Mobile EAS) technology, which will send emergency alerts to Mobile DTV-equipped cellphones, tablets, laptops and in-car navigation systems.
The technology is capable of sending alerts with video, audio, text, and graphics. It’s designed to complement the recently activated cellular-based emergency-alert system that transmits up to 90-character text messages to mobile phones.

Las Vegas – JBL will update its selection of tabletop digital-media speakers at International CES by expanding its lineup of models equipped with Apple’s Lightning 8-pin connector.
The two new Lightning-equipped speakers will enable docking of the iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod touch, 7th-generation iPod nano, iPad mini, and fourth-generation iPad without a 30-pin-to-8-pin Apple adapter.
The Harman brand is also launching a new AC/DC Bluetooth speaker.
Las Vegas — Coby will debut its latest tablet, the MID7065, during International CES, here, next week.
The company’s newest tablet features a 7-inch display and gives users access to Google Play and Google Mobile services.
The MID7065 runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The device can connect to the web via Wi-Fi and it has Bluetooth 2.1 and a front-facing 0.3-megapixel camera, Coby said.
Shipping is slated for the first quarter with a $149 suggested retail.
Las Vegas – Digital Stream will go to International CES with an 8-inch RCA-brand Android tablet that incorporates a standard over-the-air ATSC DTV tuner and a mobile-DTV tuner, which is compatible with encrypted Dyle TV mobile-DTV broadcasts.
The $299-suggested RCA Mobile TV Tablet, available in the spring, will be the industry’s first dual-tuner mobile TV, the company said.
Las Vegas – Portable electronics device manufacturer Archos introduced Thursday its Archos TV Connect which enables basic TVs with a host of smart TV features and functions, including a multi-gesture TV Touch remote with game control mapping and an HD camera for video calls.

Las Vegas – AudioControl is bringing to International CES an audiophile-grade amplifier/DAC intended for use with wireless multiroom-audio systems, including Sonos systems.
The $799-suggested compact Rialto 400, which ships a few weeks after CES, can be connected to a pair of passive speakers and the Sonos Connect wireless receiver, which connects existing sound systems or powered speakers to a Sonos wireless-audio network.
Las Vegas – Harman Kardon will go to International CES to expand its selection of AirPlay-enabled A/V receivers, launch its first AVR with embedded Wi-Fi, and bring out its first AVRs with 4K upscaling.
The brand’s two new AVRs are the $799-suggested 7.1-channel AVR 2700 and $999 7.2-channel AVR 3700, both of which feature Apple AirPlay, vTuner Internet radio to connect with thousands of Internet radio stations, and DLNA 1.5 certification to stream audio and video. Both also feature 4K upscaling from any video input. The $999 model adds embedded Wi-Fi.
Las Vegas — Definitive Technology, the supplier of high-performance component in-room and architectural speakers, continues to venture into new product categories with the planned CES launch of its first Bluetooth speaker, the $199-suggested Sound Cylinder.
The launch will follow the 2012 launch of the brand’s first active soundbar, a 5.1-channel model at a suggested $1,999 with included wireless subwoofer.
