Las Vegas – Makerbot CEO Bre Pettis made an excellent case for the power of International CES during the Leaders in Technology Dinner Wednesday.

Pettis told the crowd of industry, political and entertainment leaders how Makerbot landed its first booth, located at the far end of the LVCC’s South Hall, by winning a CEA contest. And now, just a few years later, the company has a modern factory in Brooklyn, N.Y. and is a leader in the 3D printing category.

CES 2014 Las Vegas - Panasonic kicked off its new LCD-centric TV phase by showing an expanded lineup of step-up models, including additional Ultra HD TVs and an advanced “Beyond Smart TV” system worthy of a new Life+Screen sub-brand designation during International CES.

The new offerings fill in for the recent departure of plasma displays as the brand’s bread-and-butter TV technology.

Las Vegas  Three start-up companies exhibiting in this year's Eureka Park TechZone were named winners of the International CES 2014 ShowStoppers Launchit Pitch Competition.

Chosen from more than 200 start-ups, the top three winners were chosen by a panel of professional angel investors representing the New York Angels and the Las Vegas Angel community. The winners are:

 First place: Touchjet (booth 75004), a precise touch-enabled pico projector with a built-in Android OS that transforms any empty wall into interactive 80-inch tablet.

Las Vegas  The Volvo Car Group announced the launch of its Sensus Connect, an onboard infotainment and navigation solution that is built on Ericsson’s Connected Vehicle Cloud.

The onboard experience will combine connected services, infotainment, navigation and audio, including the first ever solution utilizing built-in connectivity supported by Pandora Internet Radio.
