CES will be held in Las Vegas Jan. 8-11, 2013. McAdam's keynote address will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the Venetian's Palazzo Ballroom.
Arlington, Va. — The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has expanded its CES Unveiled events to Stockholm, Sweden, to be held Monday, Oct. 29, and it set the schedule for the three others in the series.
The Stockholm expansion marks the fourth Unveiled event scheduled in advance of the 2013 International CES, which will be held in Las Vegas, Jan. 8-11, 2013.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), which owns and produces the 2013 International CES, is scheduled January 8-11, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Leaders in Technology Dinner will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in the Lafite Ballroom at Wynn Las Vegas.
Indianapolis – The number of exhibitors at last week’s CEDIA Expo rose slightly from last year, and overall attendance was down slightly, CEDIA statistics show.
More than 450 exhibitors participated in this year’s event, as did more than 16,900 attendees from 71 countries, CEDIA said. Last year’s show attracted more than 444 exhibitors and 17,600 attendees, the association said after last year’s show.
Indianapolis – Electronic systems contractors (ESCs) generated anywhere from $8.3 billion to $8.7 billion in revenues from residential installations in 2011, up about 6 percent from a flat 2010, new Parks Associates research shows.
The research, commissioned by CEDIA, also shows that ESCs expect their residential revenues to rise about 5 percent in 2012.
“2010 was the year of stabilization,” said CEDIA market research manager Erica Shonkwiler during the CEDIA Expo. “2011 started seeing companies do a little bit better.”
Berlin – This year's IFA exhibition here is turning into a Windows 8 coming-out party, escorted by previews of TV's 4K and OLED future.
Samsung, Sony, Dell and Lenovo were among the companies to debut Windows 8 phones, tablets, laptops and, surprisingly, laptop/tablet convertibles — which seemed to have died off in the wake of the iPad. Many of the new Windows 8 devices offered 10-point multipoint multi-touch interfaces, and included some surprisingly large screens.
Las Vegas – BrandSource opened its annual fall convention, here, Monday, with CEO Bob Lawrence previewing efforts that will be further detailed this morning during his keynote and the rest of the show.
In his opening remarks, Lawrence said that attendance for this year’s show is up 12 percent over last year’s Las Vegas event, and that the convention will present to members “more programs and more introductions at this one show than in the past five years put together.”
The 2013 Best of Innovations Honorees will be announced Nov. 12 at CEA’s New York Press Preview and showcased at the 2013 International CES. Owned and produced by CEA, the 2013 CES is scheduled Jan. 8-11, 2013, in Las Vegas.
The industry-recognized annual competition honors outstanding design and engineering across 29 consumer electronics categories.
Arlington, Va. — The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced it will host four “Great Ideas Workshops” during CEDIA Expo.
The free workshops, which will be at the Indianapolis Convention Center, Sept. 5-6, are designed to provide an opportunity to exchange ideas with experts and industry colleagues, and discuss solutions that work.
NEW YORK — Kazuhiro Tsuga, incoming president of Panasonic Corporation, will deliver the opening keynote address at the 2013 International CES. This was among other announcements made by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), producer and owner of CES, last Wednesday.
CEA also said it will partner with the International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV) on an expanded awards program, and that a new charitable foundation has been set up by CEA.
