Los Angeles – Marc Finer, formerly DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group technical director, advances to the position of DEG senior director, the group said Thursday.

This month the group will hold its Spring Conference at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas March 19-21. More than 150 members are already registered to attend, AU said.
Next up is a member meeting in New York June 24-26 during CE Week.
On Sept. 10, the group will convene again for its annual AU member cocktail party at the Tilted Kilt at CEDIA.

Winston-Salem, N.C. — The Nationwide Marketing group plans to offer its dealer members an online platform to buy, sell and trade excess and unwanted inventory.
The program, provided by Harrisburg, Pa.-based Invenshare.com, allows dealers to easily add inventory to the system and conversely search for items by manufacturer, category or model number.
Barrington, Ill. — Epic Audio Video and Hanson Audio Video Home have joined the membership ranks of the Technology Specialists of America (HTSA), the buying group for custom integrators and specialty dealers.
Epic is a 25-year-old systems integrator serving the Naples, Fla., market, while Hanson is a 15-year-old A/V specialty dealer in Dayton, Ohio, specializing in two-channel audio, home theater and home automation.
Barcelona, Spain — The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) will be at Mobile World Congress 2014 to demonstrate an extension of its Qi magnetic resonance wireless-charging specification.
The resonance extension of the Qi spec allows wireless charging over a longer distance with more freedom of placement while improving efficiency and reducing lower radio frequency interference, the WPC said, and it is compatible with the more than 400 existing Qi-certified products currently on the market worldwide.
North Andover, Mass. — The Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA) has acquired In Car Experts (ICE), an industry group that provides marketing services and support to its members.
The two first teamed together in January, and MERA president Chris Cook said the partnership had “evolved into the announcement we’re making today.”
ICE founder Rob Elliott will join the MERA board of directors. Cook said no changes are expected for ICE members and vendor partners, although they do become immediate MERA members as a condition of the acquisition.
Arlington, Va. — The Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA) president/CEO Gary Shapiro is urging “innovation-friendly” energy policies for North America.
The statement comes as Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada, President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico and President Barack Obama meet at the Trilateral North American Leaders Summit in Toluca, Mexico.
