Wakefield, Mass. – The NFC Forum and The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) have inked a formal agreement to collaborate on near field communication (NFC) and Bluetooth applications.
A memorandum of understanding formalizes the collaboration of the two industry trade groups on the jointly published application document "Bluetooth Secure Simple Pairing Using NFC." Under the new agreement, the two organizations will work together to update and maintain the document to accommodate Bluetooth Smart products using the low-energy feature of the Bluetooth spec.

Santa Clara, Calif. – GPS supplier Magellan diversified its wearable-electronics lineup with the launch of its first fitness-oriented smart watch, which joins a pair of fitness-oriented GPS watches launched in 2012.
Samsung Telecommunications America announced the availability of three noise-canceling Bluetooth headsets.
At the top of the good/better/best line, Samsung's WEP870 combines a noise-canceling Bluetooth mono headset with hi-fi music streaming to premium stereo ear buds. The WEP870 can be worn on either ear to facilitate calls or listen to music through its earpiece, but also includes a stereo ear bud lanyard that can be attached to the headset and worn around the user's neck.
Fellowes is introducing its Earglove BlueSport, a Bluetooth wireless headset, available with and without an adaptor for non-Bluetooth phones.
The wireless headset, called "sleek and sporty" by Fellowes, is said to offer razor-sharp sound quality at up to 30 feet away.
The rubber headset, which conveniently folds for storage, offers control buttons that are separated for simplicity and ease of use.
Griffin Technology used Macworld, held here earlier this month, to launch a variety of new CE accessories, as well as enter the Bluetooth headset category. The company also used the show to introduced updates for some of its preexisting products.
