San Diego – Satechi today announced the availability of its Universal Remote dongle and RemoteBean app that allow any iOS device to be used as a universal remote control for any IR component.
The plug-and-play dongle connects to the iOS device’s 3.5mm jack. Once plugged in, users download the free RemoteBean app, enter the activation code and program all multimedia electronics in the room on the iPhone or iPad. The user-friendly app guides users through each room in the house to customize any device that comes with a remote control.

Hoffman Estates, Ill. — Sears and Kmart will begin carrying the private-label Alphaline CE accessories brand on Oct. 28.
The line will be exclusive to the two retailers, a spokesman told TWICE, with 101 SKUs in Sears and 95 in Kmart.
Products will include cables, mounts, screen cleaners, iPod docking systems and Bluetooth speakers. Five different headphone styles will be available, with pricing ranging from $14.99 to $39.99, as will gaming accessories for the Xbox, PlayStation, Wii and DS systems.
Newark, Calif. — Logitech International said sales were down for its fiscal second quarter, ended Sept. 30, but operating income and net income were up.
Sales for the quarter were $548 million, down 7 percent from $589 million in the prior-year period. Excluding the unfavorable impact of exchange rates, sales were down 4 percent compared with the same quarter in the prior year, Logitech said.
Hauppauge, N.Y. – Voxx International reported a double-digit gain in net sales, as well as higher net income and operating income in its second fiscal quarter, ended Aug. 31.
Fiscal second-quarter sales increased driven by the Hirschmann acquisition and increases in mobile OEM and in accessories.
Net sales for the fiscal 2013 second quarter were $191.7 million, an increase of 21.1 percent compared with net sales of $158.3 million in the comparable year-ago period.
Ada, Mich. – Alticor announced that it is seeking buyers for its eCoupled wireless power intellectual property, developed by its subsidiary, Fulton Innovation.
Fulton said it owns more than 240 patents worldwide related to wireless power technology, with another 480 patents currently pending. The company played a leading role in establishing the global Qi standard for wireless power as a charter member of the International Wireless Power Consortium.
