New York — ShopKeep POS, a Cloud-based point-of-sale (POS) retail-management platform, has announced the rollout of ShopKeep Mobile, a handheld POS device combining Griffin Technology's Olli hardware with the ShopKeep POS app.
Griffin’s Olli is an iPoud Touch case with a barcode scanner and magnetic card reader originally designed for the healthcare market.
Bundled with the ShopKeep POS app, the ShopKeep Mobile case allows for sales transactions anywhere in a store or a remote location.

Louisville, Ky. — The Global Warranty and Service Contract Association (GWSCA) is conducting an online survey to address commonly experienced questions, problems and trends facing the warranty industry.
The trade group is soliciting input from vendors, retailers, distributors, insurers and third-party administrators, and will use their survey responses to formulate programs and proposed solutions.
The survey, available here through Nov. 17, is being conducted for GWSCA by Fulcrum Analytics.
Barrington, Ill. — Members of the Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA) can now receive continuing education units (CEU) from CEDIA for attending the buying group’s summits and conferences.
HTSA said it is the first buying association to have its meetings accredited by CEDIA under the trade group’s professional certification program.
The announcement comes as HTSA kicks off its three-day Fall Conference tonight at the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower in Chicago.

Boston — Online advertising services company OwnerIQ has developed a way for suppliers to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on the browsing behavior of shoppers within a retailer’s website, the company said.
Washington — Parents and college kids plan to spend about 13 percent less on CE and other back-to-school items this year than last, a new survey shows.
According to a poll by the National Retail Federation (NRF), families with school-age kids plan to spend an average of $635 this season on apparel, school supplies and CE, compared with $689 last year, while college-bound kids and their families plan to spend an average of $837 vs. $907 last year.
Total projected back-to-school spending fell 13.4 percent to $72.5 billion.

Chester Springs, Pa. — Azione Unlimited (AU), the education/buying group for custom retailers and integrators, has unveiled a five-committee structure to help guide the organization over the next three years.
The committees, which were developed at the group’s spring conference in April, are comprised of dealers and vendors and include the following:
