Denver — Ricoh kicked off the online launch of its Ricoh Theta spherical-image-capture camera.
The camera, which begins selling for $399 in the United States on Tuesday, is also being rolled out to consumers in the United Kingdom, France and Germany through Ricoh Imaging online stores. It will also be sold by Ricoh on Amazon, via Theta360.com, and by B&H and Adorama.

Melville, N.Y. – Nikon introduced Wednesday its 1-Series AW1 – billed as one of the first waterproof and shockproof mirrorless compact system cameras (CSCs).
The Nikon 1 AW1 is said to be both waterproof (to a depth of 49 feet) and shockproof (from a drop of up to 6.6 feet).
The camera, which harkens back to the days of the Nikonos underwater film 35mm film cameras, includes a 14.2-megapixel Nikon CX-format CMOS sensor and captures Full HD 1080p video.
Valhalla, N.Y. – Fujifilm introduced Wednesday the X-A1 as its entry-level model in its X series of mirrorless compact system cameras.
The X-A1, which ships later this month, carries a $599 suggested retail price, and packs a 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS kit lens.
The camera includes a 16.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and a Bayer color filter array but omits the X-Trans image sensor of other X-Series compacts.
The camera is available in black, and includes built-in Wi-Fi connectivity.
