Operating profit dropped 33.8 percent from the same period last year to 54.8 billion yen ($551 million) as net income fell 33.5 percent to 40.9 billion yen ($411 million).
Net sales were down 1.5 percent to $8.68 billion.
Valhalla, N.Y. – Fujifilm North America introduced this week the Fujinon XF55-200mm (83-300mm 35mm equivalent) F3.5-F4.8 R LM OIS lens, which is billed as the first XF telephoto zoom lens for the company’s X-Series mirrorless compact system camera series.

Secaucus, N.J. — Panasonic formally introduced its DMC-GF6 digital single-lens mirrorless camera to the U.S. market Monday, calling it “the most compact” Lumix G-series model to date.
Panasonic’s GF6 (shipping in June at a $700 street retail) features a new 16–megapixel Live MOS sensor, and a new Venus Engine image processor for high sensitivity and low noise, achieving a maximum ISO 25,600 (in extended mode).
There are 19 creative control modes, including Self Shot, Creative Panorama and Stop Motion Animation.

Commack, N.Y., - Tamron USA Monday kicked off its Third Annual "My Travel Exhibit" photo contest, for Tamron USA lens users.
Entrants are asked to create a 3D virtual exhibit showcasing 8-14 of their best images in a travel theme on Tamron's unique photo sharing exhibit site, MyPhotoExhibits.com.
Professional photographer Kevin Gilligan will judge the contest and choose the winning exhibit based on overall image quality and originality of the collection, Tamron said.

The camera models include the new flagship of the consumer EOS Rebel DSLR line, model T5i; the Canon SL1, a compact entry-level DSLR; and the Canon PowerShot SX280 HS.
The Canon EOS Rebel DSLR flagship T5i features an 18-megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor and Canon’s DIGIC 5 image processor.
