Washington D.C. – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) agreed to hear a request by Liberty Media to take control of SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Liberty saved Sirius XM from near-bankruptcy in February 2009 by agreeing to lend it up to $530 million in exchange for preferred stock that, when converted to common stock, would give it a 40 percent stake in the satellite-radio broadcaster.

New York – DTS subsidiary Phorus has developed a multizone wireless-audio technology that, for the first time, brings Apple AirPlay-like features to Android smartphones and tablets and to Amazon’s Android-based Kindle tablets.

The technology, named DTS Play-Fi, also offers some advances over AirPlay.

Indianapolis – 3vNet came to the CEDIA Expo with its first new products since it was sold off by Russound four months ago, and it outlined its strategy to grow as a stand-alone company.

The supplier of IP-controlled lighting and multi-room-audio systems is pursuing opportunities that its former owner did not, including licensing its IP to other companies and pursuing large commercial contracts, CEO Mike Anderson said during the Expo.

The brand management team will report directly to Paul Starkey, Core Brands marketing senior VP. The brands that make up Core Brands include Aton, BlueBolt, Elan, Furman, Niles, Panamax, Proficient, SpeakerCraft, Sunfire and Xantech.
