Vista, Calif. — Directed has begun shipping its XpressStart One remote-start and security system.

The “one-box” solution is designed to let installers build any type of remote start and vehicle security system their customers can imagine in virtually any vehicle. It facilitates connectivity to a vehicle's databus, which Directed currently offers with RSR technology, the company said.

When the device was previewed at International CES in January, the company noted that its combination of firmware and hardware features simplify and speed up installation. The universal digital platform eliminates the need for vehicle-specific hardware, and the new Config Wizard lets installers program the system with their web-connected PC the same way they do with a Bitwriter.

It offers full RF compatibility, and consumers can control using their iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices.

Seven products will be offered under Directed’s Viper, Python, and Clifford brands, all containing everything needed in the box.
