LAS VEGAS – The biggest threat facing A/V specialty retailers is no longer big boxes but the little ones – the wireless kind that are connecting millions of consumers to the web and the world.

According to top merchants comprising TWICE’s annual Retail Roundtable panel, the industry is undergoing a seismic shift as viewing habits follow the portable path of audio, and tablets and smartphones share floor space with TVs as the new kings and queens of consumer electronics.

How A/V dealers can become adept at selling mobile broadband profitably, and what the future holds for TV demand, are topics that were tackled during a closed-door session last month at International CES. Readers are invited to “listen in” to the give-and-take via the edited transcript that follows.
