Software write-offs and consulting fees dragged down earnings for PC Mall, the direct marketer of computer hardware, software and accessories.

The company said profit plummeted 103 percent for the three months ended Dec. 31, for a net loss of $42,000. Net sales, buoyed by a 59-percent spike in revenue at its discount eCOST.com subsidiary, rose 12 percent over the prior-year period to $325.4 million.

Consolidated selling, general and administrative expenses (SG&A) increased 12 percent to 10.2 percent of sales.

For the full year, net income fell 66.6 percent to $1 million on net sales of $1.2 billion, up 18.6 percent.
