The NPD Group has launched a new retail-tracking service covering the office superstore channel. The point-of-sale program monitors sales from the three major office superstore retailers, Office Depot, Office Max and Staples.
According to NPD, the service will allow clients to assess unit, dollar, and average selling price performance at the category, brand, product feature and SKU level, and access historical data for the past three years. The service tracks trends across 130 categories and 300 product features within the channel.
Running the new operation is NPD veteran Perry James, who has been named director of office supplies.
