"As they say at NASA when they are preparing the space shuttle, 'We're on the launch pad and ready to go,' " said Nationwide TV & Appliance director Ed Kelly of that the group's consumer Web site, BrandsDirect, which is just about ready for launch.
The site, developed by Jim Delli Santi, president of BrandsDirect, should be ready in about 30 days. "This is a multi-branded site which can take orders directly, or refer you to a local Nationwide dealer in your area," Delli Santi said.
BrandsDirect is launching with more than 1,100 SKUs in seven major appliance product categories, featuring products from Amana, Frigidaire, GE, KitchenAid, Maytag and Whirlpool.
"We can provide product information either directly from our site, or by referring you to a manufacturer's site. You can also click and go to the BrandsDirect page for one of our retailers, or go to that retailer's site, if it has one," Delli Santi noted.
"We think it's unique," Kelly said because the site provides "a deeper look at models, features, dimensions of the products. The best thing is the ease of use. Consumers will learn more about the products they want."
Delli Santi added that the site, "Normalizes all the features in specific product categories, so consumers can compare product." The site's URL is www.brandsdirect.com.
