JVC Web Site Gets A New, Improved Look

WAYNE, N.J. — JVC Company of America has revamped its Web site with a new look and expanded features to further its branding effort and keep consumers coming back, a company spokesman said.

According to the company, the upgraded site (www.jvc.com) features a more user-friendly interface, emphasizes new products, and makes it easier to search for detailed information about the company, upcoming events and product promotions.

“JVC is committed to finding new and innovative ways to use our Web site to educate and entertain consumers,” a JVC spokeswoman said. By way of example, she cited the enhanced “video community” section of the site, which now enables visitors to create and broadcast video over the Internet and add a variety of special effects to their digital images.

The new, improved corporate site, which was designed by New York-based developer Purple Crayons Interactive, also includes links to the seven e-commerce sites that are authorized to sell JVC products online. The solely authorized retailers and e-tailers include Abt Electronics, Crutchfield, 800.com, Good Guys, J&R Music World, OneCall.com and Vann’s. The company spokesman said that additional e-commerce sites would ultimately be sanctioned to sell the JVC line, and that the vendor was only considering retailers with which it has “a good relationship” and that maintain a “strong brick-and-mortar presence.” An additional requirement is that the e-commerce sites carry a JVC-specific page that’s linked to jvc.com.

In the past, JVC has expressed reluctance to compete with its dealers by using its site to sell directly to consumers, although it hasn’t ruled out that possibility. To date, jvc.com’s direct-sale offerings are limited to accessories including cables, mouses, microphones, headphones and recording media.
