Plainfield, Ind. — Fortune Magazine named wireless device distributor Brightpoint among the top five wholesalers in the electronics category in its Amercia's Most Admired Companies list, featured in its March 2007 issue.
In other news, Brightpoint has also completed it's previously-announced acquisition (See TWICE, Jan. 8, p. 80) of virtually all of CellStar's assets and liabilities related to its U.S. and Latin American businesses.
Scottsdale, Ariz. — DBL, nationwide distributor of CE products and accessories, has signed a distribution agreement to offer a variety of Panasonic's camcorders including the HDC-SD1, HDC-DX1, SDR-H200 and the VDR-210.
The company will also offer BreatheAudio products that will launch in DBL's May/Summer catalog.
Orlando, Fla. — Parrot, maker of wireless peripherals for mobile phones, has awarded the title "Distributor of the Year" to two of its partners for 2006. M. Rothman & Company of Ramsey, N.J. was given the award for the eastern U.S. and Progressive Concepts of Fort Worth, Texas was given the award for the western United States.
Philadelphia — Almo will now distribute Olevia 's 5 Series line of LCD HDTVs. Almo's members were introduced to the brand at the organization's Consumer Electronics and Appliance Expo, held here April 11-12. Similar events have been scheduled to follow at nine other locations nationwide.
Harrisburg, Pa. — D&H Distributing, national distributor of computer and CE products, now distributes Chimei's LCD TV displays. As part of the deal, the 32-inch and 37- inch models are immediately available through D&H and the 42-inch version is set to ship in May.
D&H has also recently agreed to carry robotic and manual flat-panel mounts from K2 Mounts and a collection of laptop and portable gaming system cases and bags from Everki.
Los Angeles — Lee Perlman, chairman and CEO of distributor New Age Electronics, was recognized as a finalist in the Technology Council of Southern California's 2007 "CEO of the Year" Industry Awards, an annual event that honors industry leaders and companies from the region that support and enhance the growth of the technology sector in Southern California. George Klaus, chairman and CEO of Epicor was ultimately given the award at the ceremony held on March 7 at the Millenium Biltmore Hotel. Brett Caine, president of Citrix Online, was also a finalist.
Chicago — Electrograph Systems will host its Display Technology Experience (DTE) training event for A/V resellers here May 3. This version of the event, already held in other cities around the United States, will be highlighted by a special discussion on attachment selling to be led by Monster Cable's head monster Noel Lee.
