CEDIA To Host SEN Seminars At Nationwide

The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) will co-sponsor two seminars at next month’s Nationwide Marketing Group meeting and buy fair, here, as part of a new educational partnership with the buying group’s Specialty Electronics Nationwide division (SEN).

“We are very pleased to announce this exciting new partnership with CEDIA,” said Jeannette Howe, executive director of SEN. “Although we have been exhibiting at CEDIA Expo for years, we proudly joined CEDIA as a buying group in 2009.”

Admission to the seminars will be free to attendees at Nationwide’s bi-annual PrimeTime! event, which will be held Feb. 28 – March 3 at the MGM Grand.

Registration for the show is up 50 percent from last year at this time, Nationwide reported, with more than 1,000 independent dealers, exhibitors and other attendees already registered. Another 2,000 are expected to register by the end of February, the group said.

The first CEDIA/SEN seminar, “Five Strategies to Managing a Successful and Profitable Custom Installation Business,” will be presented by CEDIA CEO Utz Baldwin on March 1. The session is designed to help business owners, CEOs and upper management dedicate their time and energy to proactively work on the systems within their business, SEN said.

The second seminar, “Compensation Strategies and Realities: How to Pay for Performance Without Busting the Budget,” will be presented on March 2 by Steve Firszt of Fast Forward Business Coaching. Compensation plans can create a culture that will increase employee potential, performance and loyalty, SEN noted, and rewarding employees fairly engages them, improves morale, inspires retention and ultimately achieves better bottom line performance.

Both Baldwin and Firszt are CEDIA-certified instructors, and attendees at the two-hour presentations receive one free continuing education unit for each seminar attended.

SEN serves specialty independent dealers that provide custom-installation services. Its more than 460 members generate more than $1 billion in annual sales.

CEDIA is an international trade association of companies that specialize in designing and installing electronic systems for the home.
