Amazon’s Paul Ryder Awarded Best Executive Accolade

NEW YORK –

While past merchants including Carl
Gish, Frank Sadowski, Glenn Cunningham and Noah
Herschman did much to get

Amazon.com

’s foot in
the CE door, it was current consumer electronics VP
Paul Ryder who helped kick it in.

Over the past five years Ryder has helped
lead an $8 billion growth engine spanning
nearly all categories and price
points. A former Honeywell International
and GE exec, he is responsible
for the merchandising, marketing
and customer service functions for all
of Amazon’s CE businesses, including
A/V, mobile, digital imaging, PCs and
peripherals, office supplies and musical instruments.

He also oversees Amazon’s new Appstore for Android,
which, together with other digital innovations
such as the company’s Instant Video content-delivery
platform, Cloud Drive storage service, and, of course,
Kindle, are helping to drive its mounting
dominance in hardware and entertainment.

In a statement, Ryder said the TWICE
accolades “are a testament to how we’re
helping customers understand new
technologies, and to the positive
response we are getting
from them.”

“[

Amazon.com

] is always
looking to help customers
find and discover everything
they would like to buy
online, and Amazon Electronics
is no different. The awards
show that customers truly value good prices, broad
selection, convenient shopping and great customer
service, and that’s what we offer customers every
day,” he said.

To his point, customers can now trade
in more than 1 million items for

gift cards, while the company has
expanded its trade-in selection to include
thousands of tablets, cellphones, MP3
players, cameras, GPS devices and other
CE products, which can provide shoppers
with extra cash for the holidays.

Speaking of which, Ryder promised that
Amazon Electronics will be “bustling with
tons of great deals on the hottest products
of the season. So we tell customers to shop
early and shop often. As with past years,
we will work hard to meet or beat prices
every day, including Black Friday, Cyber Monday and
throughout the holidays.”
