Comp sales for the combined wireless and computing categories are expected to fall 22.6 percent for the quarter, the largest segment drop. hhgregg said its postpaid business has historically impacted its overall operating profitability, but the chain will continue to offer prepaid phones and plans.</p> <p>The $4 million charge will include the expected write-down of mobile inventory and the write-off of store fixtures as the chain adjusts its product mix.</p> <p>In a statement, president/CEO Dennis May said, &ldquo;We faced a number of headwinds during the quarter, which led to disappointing financial results. Extreme weather in January, February and the beginning of March negatively impacted traffic and operating performance in the majority of our stores, particularly those located in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions, where the weather was the most severe.&rdquo;</p> <p>He added, &ldquo;While we are disappointed in our preliminary results, we remain focused on executing our strategic initiatives to transform the business by refining our merchandise assortment, improving our customer shopping experience, expanding our credit offerings and enhancing our service capabilities.&rdquo;</p> <p>May described major appliances as the bright spot of the quarter, with projected comps up 0.5 percent, representing the 11<sup>th</sup> consecutive quarter of comp gains for the category. He was 91.</p> <p>Arlen began his long career in electronics, appliance and electric products sales and distribution, here, where he represented Philco, Admiral, Crosley and Bendix.</p> <p>After moving to Los Angeles, he was a corporate VP at Sues, Young and Brown and district manager of Philco Consumer Electronics Corporation.</p> <p>Arlen also represented Zenith, KitchenAid, Sharp, Speed Queen, General Electric and Sylvania.</p> <p>Arlen was known as an innovative, charismatic figure in the industry, well respected for his fairness, integrity, success and people skills.</p> <p>His wife of 64 years Vera Arlen died in 2007.&nbsp; He is survived by two married children and two grandsons.</p> <p>A public memorial service will be held Friday, April 25, at 12 p.m. at Montefiore Home, One David N. Myers Pkwy., Beachwood, OH 44122. The burial will immediately follow at Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights, Ill.</p> <p>Korn founded Central Television Services out of his garage with his partner in 1948. This became B&amp;K Electronics, which in turn joined forces with other small CE companies to form Dynascan. In 1963, Dynascan engineers developed the world&#39;s first CB radio, the Sidewinder, which was shortly followed by the Cobra, according to Bazet&rsquo;s statement. The Cobra name soon became the symbol and brand name for this signature product.</p> <p>Korn served as president and CEO from 1961 to 1985 and was chairman of the board from 1961 to 2008, when he officially retired.
