Crowdfunding Spotlight

In the Aug. 12 print issue of TWICE, I wrote a feature that examined crowdfunding and its relationship with startup CE companies. Click here to read the online version.

This CS update will focus on smartphone accessories.

The EleMount from Ele is a universal smartphone and tablet mount made completely out of aluminum. Rather than a suction cup, it attaches to a surface with a polyurethane pad using simple pressure. The sleek, stylish mount will be offered in black or silver. As of this posting, the EleMount had reached $54,095 funds pledged, far surpassing its $10,000 goal.

The Hustle bag features built-in wireless induction charging that can charge a smartphone up to four times, according to its makers, before the bag needs to be recharged. The 4,250 mAh lithium-polymer Power Pack will bring a Qi-enabled smartphone to a full charge “in a few hours.”  A variety of configurations and materials are being made.

The iDoorCam is a Wi-Fi-enabled doorbell that you can monitor from your smartphone or tablet. The doorbell features an IR LED for night vision, as well as a motion sensor, microphone and speaker. Installation is DIY, according to the company. The suggested retail will be $165, but those who fund it on Indiegogo can receive it for as low as $127.
