KEF Launches Its First Headphones
MARLBORO, N.J. — KEF announced its first foray into the headphones market, with the introduction of over-ear (M500) and in-ear (M200) models.
The closed-back M500 feature 40mm neodymium drivers, a folding design, a sweat-resistant headband, and in-line mic and controls. Suggested retail is $299.
The M200 in-ear headphones have dual-driver technology with 10mm and 5.5mm drivers. Features include aluminum housings, silicone ear tips, in-line mic and controls, and a $199 price tag.
What asked what led the company to enter the competitive headphones market, Stephanie Scola, KEF marketing manager, told TWICE it was a natural progression for the company.
Monster Honors FIRST With Custom DNAs
BRISBANE, CALIF. — Monster honored the 10 winners of the FIRST Dean’s List national student competition winners by presenting them with specially designed DNA headphones.
The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Championship is a series of robotics competitions and showcases.
Said Monster’s head monster Noel Lee: “As someone who grew up with technology and science from a very young age, and using that knowledge to build Monster, I was passionate about [FIRST founder Dean Kamen’s] vision to inspire young students on how science and engineering can be part of their future careers.”
Onkyo Creates Music Stations For Eleven Seven Music Tour
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. — Onkyo has teamed with Eleven Seven Music to create “listening experiences” for fans of “The Connection” tour, featuring Papa Roach, Escape the Fate and Otherwise.
Consumers will be able to listen to Escape the Fate’s upcoming album on Onkyo’s new ES-FC300 at merch tables set up outside the venues.
The tour will run until May 24.
Targus Adds Galaxy Cases
ANAHEIM, CALIF. — Targus has hopped into the growing Samsung Galaxy accessories pool with its new Midnight collection of cases for the Galaxy S4 smartphone and the Galaxy Note 8 tablet.
Four new models feature textured finishes with a tone-on-tone color palette.
The Slim Laser case for the Galaxy S4 features a soft-touch coating on the interior and exterior of the case, with a laser-cut textured and matte metallic finish. It is available in black and crimson at a suggested retail of $24.99.
Targus’ new Snap- On Shell case for the S4 combines a durable hard shell with a soft, textured interior finish. It comes in black, Pool Blue and crimson with a $24.99 suggested retail.
The Slim Wave case features a wave-like texture and translucent gloss and matte finish with a softtouch interior. It comes in black, Pool Blue and fuchsia with a $19.99 suggested retail.
All three S4 cases will ship in May.
For the Galaxy Note 8, Targus’ new Kickstand case offers multiple viewing angles and an iridescent, pearl-like finish with an interior lined with a softtouch inner lining to protect the screen from scratches. Four flexible secure bands keep the tablet in place while providing access to all ports. The case is available in black, Midnight Blue and crimson at a suggested $29.99. It will be available in June.
Additional cases in the Midnight collection for other smartphones and tablets will be introduced throughout the year, the company said.
