Shusaku Nagae, current president of Panasonic’s Eco Solutions, has been named chairman, replacing Fumio Ohtsubo, who is stepping down ahead of schedule amidst continuing losses, the company said. Nagae currently heads Panasonic’s solution business as executive VP in addition to his role as president of Eco Solutions. Todd Rytting, Panasonic Electric Works Laboratory of America president and CEO, has been named the corporation’s new chief technology officer, replacing Eisuke Tsuyuzaki, who left the company last month.… Julius Genachowski, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman, will be leaving office in the coming weeks. He took over the chairmanship in 2009. During his tenure, the FCC worked to expand wired and wireless broadband and bandwidth. A successor has not yet been named … Jonathan Frank, formerly Audiovox assistant mobile electronics marketing VP, has been named marketing VP of Hisense USA. Prior to joining Audiovox, Frank was Panasonic’s national training and marketing manager … Dean Hanby has been named VP of Nationwide East, a regional division of Nationwide Marketing Group. He replaces Howard Khouri, who previously held this role and is retiring this month … Judson Althoff, a longtime Oracle executive, has been named Microsoft’s president of North America sales and marketing and corporate VP … Bob Goedken has been promoted to general manager of the A/V division of Yamaha Corp. of America (YCA), reporting directly to YCA senior VP Tom Sumner … Jack Travis has been named global sales director of SVS. An audio and consumer electronics industry veteran for more than 30 years, he spent 18 years at the Harman consumer group … Karl Werner has been named U.S. technology president for The NPD Group, the global information company. Werner leads the consumer electronics, technology, games and mobile practice areas … Jeff Bocan was named senior VP of Mophie ... DEI Holdings has formed a new division for its Polk Audio, Definitive Technology and Boom brands, known as Sound United. Jim Minarik, chairman and CEO of DEI Holdings, will be chairman and CEO of Sound Unlimited. Kevin Duffy, president of DEI Holdings, will also be president of Sound Unlimited. Both will retain their current DEI positions. Ben Newhall, Polk Audio’s senior sales VP, was promoted to chief sales officer for Sound United. Joe Tristani, Polk Audio’s senior VP, has been named COO of the new division. Michael DiTullo will be Sound United’s chief design officer, and Blair Tripodi will be chief marketing officer. Dan Wakefield has been promoted to sales VP at Polk, and Bill Kinsella is taking his place as national sales director.
