LAS VEGAS — Ematic will show off four new tablets this week, here.
All are part of the company’s FunTab Family of child-friendly tablets and were developed in collaboration with Zoodles Kid Moe, a kid-safety software system.
The new line consists of the FunTab Pro, FunTab, FunTab XL and FunTab Mini. All run on Android 4.0 and are bundled with such games as “Angry Birds,” “Where’s My Water” and “Cut the Rope.” The software also allows for video email.
All begin shipping on Jan. 8 with Walmart. com expected to be among the first retailers to carry the line.
The FunTab XL has a 9-inch multi-touch display with IPS technology. It is powered by a 1.2GHz processor with a 400MHz GPU and has 1GB of memory and 16GB of internal storage. There are front and rear cameras. It will retail for $149.
The FunTab Mini has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, a 1GHz processor, 512MB of memory and 4GB of storage along with the same front and rear cameras as the XL. The Mini’s suggested retail will be $59.99.
The FunTab is basically a 7-inch version of the XL, having the same basic features. Battery life is rated at 5.5 hours, and it comes in two color schemes: blue/green and pink/purple. It will carry a $119 price tag.
The final entry is the 7-inch FunTab Pro. It builds on the FunTab by adding an HDMI output and eight hours of battery life. It has replaceable front plates that come in blue, pink and red. Street price will be $149.
