PS Audio Creates New Category
BOULDER, COLO. – Audio supplier PS Audio has combined an isolation base and a power conditioner into a single chassis.
The $995-suggested PowerBase is said to be the first product of its kind in the industry. It ships Jan. 1.
SVS Adds Subwoofers
GIRARD, OHIO – SVS shipped the two lowestpriced subwoofers that it has ever offered.
The two compact models are the $499 SB-1000 and PB-1000, both coming in under the $649 price of the company’s previous opening-price sub, the SB12-NSD.
The SB-1000 is a 13-inch cube with 12-inch frontfiring driver in a sealed cabinet. The PB-1000 features 10-inch front driver in an 18.4-inch by 15-inch by 10- inch enclosure.
iBiquity Teams With Pop Band
COLUMBIA, MD. – HD Radio developer iBiquity Digital entered into a promotional partnership with pop band Totsy, which is the opening act for the 22 shows in Brian Setzer’s Christmas Rocks! Extravaganza Tour in November and December.
For the shows, HD Radio stations are creating promotional opportunities that highlight Totsy and HD Radio technology, iBiquity said.
Krell Enters OEM Car Audio
LOS ANGELES – High-end home-audio supplier Krell Industries entered the car audio market with the launch of a Krell-branded sound system in the 2014 Acura RLX.
The luxury car’s premium OEM system, developed in collaboration with Krell, put in an appearance here at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Meridian’s British Invasion
NEW YORK – U.K.-based Meridian Audio is taking direct control of its U.S. operations beginning Jan. 1. Peter Wellikoff, CEO of Meridian America, will leave the company on Dec. 31.
Meridian’s U.S-based staff will report to EVP John Buchanan, who will lead Meridian’s newly integrated global sales and marketing team.
Olive Readies 3 Music Servers
SAN FRANCISCO – New hard-drive-equipped music systems due from Olive Media in the first quarter include the company’s first models with built-in amplifier and smartphone connectivity. They also feature a new OS.
The 4HD will be available for $1,499, while the 5HD starts at $2,999 and the 6HD starts at $4,999.
