J.D. Power interviewed 18,000 car owners last month to determine which auto technologies consumers are most interested in — both before and after the market price is revealed.
• 55 percent said they would pay for remote vehicle diagnostics.
• 50 percent want wireless connectivity for their smartphones. This wasn’t a surprising figure since 86 percent of respondents who owned a smartphone said they used it in the car.
• 46 percent want backup cameras, and 45 percent want blind-spot detection.
• 45 percent said they would pay for smartphone-enabled remote start, assuming the cost is $300 (an accurate price considering the Viper SmartStart app and module retail for $299).
