Boss International Group (BIG) added a new head unit, two new amps and a new
coaxial speaker to its marine-audio lineup.
The company's marine
selection consists of 18 head units, five amplifiers, three subwoofers and an
assortment of installed and mounted speaker systems, all targeted to
value-conscious boat owners who want quality sound, the company said. Boats can
be outfitted for as little as a suggested $500, the company noted.
The newest head unit is the IPX6-rated
MR2180UA 1.5-DIN AM/FM/CD receiver, which features illuminated no-slip buttons,
24 presets, RCA outputs for full-range and subwoofer amplifiers, a flip-down
face for CD access, rear USB and aux inputs, and 4x80 watts (max) internal
amplifier.
For the head unit, Boss offers the optional MRC21
remote control, which uses RF instead of IR to control the head unit without a
line-of-sight view.
Two new bridgeable
small-footprint amps are MR404 and MR202. The four-channel MR404 is rated at
100 watts RMS and bridges to two-channel operation. The 100-watt RMS
two-channel MR202 can be bridged to mono. Both amplifiers feature line-level
and speaker-level inputs, variable gain control, and corrosion resistance via
treated circuit boards, a rubber control panel cover, weatherproof connectors
and sealing grommets.
The new MR65G3 coaxial speaker is available
with grilles in three colors: white, chrome or black. It features 1-inch Mylar
dome tweeters over polypropylene-carbon cones surrounding a 1-inch voice coil.
Each speaker handles 250 watts peak power at 4 ohms.
