Microsoft, NFL Look At Watching Football Through VR HoloLens

Football fans watching games through Microsoft’s HoloLens virtual-reality headset would get a room-wide view, watch a holographic replay from any angle on their coffee table, and watch fantasy-league scores update in real time without glancing at a second screen.

Those were some of the ideas brainstormed by Microsoft and the NFL in reimagining game-watching through Microsoft’s untethered VR headset, which runs Windows 10 and is still in development. The Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition software for developers ships in the first quarter.

Also with HoloLens, life-size players could crash through walls and stand in the middle of your living room as their stats appear around them, Microsoft showed in a concept video. The video was posted in a Microsoft blog and unveiled at a Super Bowl 50 panel discussion, “The Future of Football: How Technology Could Shape the Next 50 Years of the Game.”
