Santa Clara, Calif. - Vudu said Tuesday that its steaming movie service app is now shipping on the 2011 line of Sony-connected Blu-ray Disc players.

The video-on-demand Vudu service delivers instant streaming of 1080p movies with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

Vudu said Sony's 3D-enabled players will also provide access to 3D content.

Many of the players are available now in select stores and will be shipping nationally in March.

The 2011 Sony Blu-ray Disc players offering Vudu service include the following:
