DVDO Adds First HDMI 2.0 Matrix Switcher

Sunnyvale, Calif. – DVDO switched on sales of its first HDMI matrix switcher with HDMI 2.0 and discrete inputs and outputs.

The $1,499-suggested 4×4 Ultra HD Matrix 44 switcher, designed for residential and commercial applications, is also the company’s first 4×4 HDMI matrix switcher.

The component, which is shipping, lacks HDCP 2.2 copy-protection technology but features four discrete HDMI 2.0 outputs to transmit up to 4K Ultra HD video at 50/60Hz. It also supports 3D, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.

The switcher includes built-in Web server for setup and monitoring and direct TCP/IP, telnet, RS232, and IR control for integration into home- and commercial-control systems. For standalone applications, a wireless Android control app is also available.

Front-panel controls allow for control of individual outputs, direct jump to preset connections, and the ability to lock out front panel controls to prevent unwanted changes.

For installers, the component features locking power connector, rack-mount tabs, remote Web access, and field-upgradable firmware.

Matrix44 is said to ensure universal display compatibility via dynamic EDID control. A flash-free modeenables the switching of inputs on one output without interrupting the other outputs.
