Las Vegas - Verizon Wireless is expanding its Droid franchise with three new Motorola-made 4G LTE models, including a model promoted as the thinnest 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone announced to date.

That model is the Droid 4.

The other two Droids include a purple-colored version of the current 4G LTE Droid Razr, which is already available in black and white, and the new 8.99mm-thick Razr Maxx, which is slightly larger than the svelte 7.1mm-thick Razr but extends talk time to 21 hours and is equipped with 32GB of memory compared to the Razr's 16GB.

All three will be available in the coming weeks, and all are upgradable to the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

The Droid 4 offers Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS, 4-inch qHD display, dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, and five-row QWERTY keyboard with a PC-like layout and edge-lit keys for typing in the dark. It's enterprise-ready with government-grade encryption, and it allows for remote access to music, pictures, documents, and videos stored on home or work computers. Other Droid 4 features include 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture, HDMI Mirror Mode to display images and video on an HDTV, 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot supporting up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices, 16 GB on-board memory, and 32GB MicroSD Card slot.

Accessories compatible with Droid 4 include the laptop-looking 10.1-inch Lapdock 100 and 14-inch Lapdock 500 Pro with built-in webcam. The Droid 4 docks with these keyboard-equipped devices to power the devices and allow for web access and app use on a larger screen.

Droid 4 pricing wasn't announced, but the purple Droid Razr will be $199.99, and the Droid Razr Maxx will be $299.

Both the purple 16GB Razr and 32GB Razr Maxx run on the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS and will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Additional Maxx specifications weren't revealed.

The purple Razr and Razr Maxx are also  compatible with the 10.1-inch and 14-inch Lapdocks.
