Basking Ridge, N.J. - Verizon Wireless plans April 28 availability of its HTC-made Droid Incredible2, which as previously reported by TWICE adds global roaming capability, front-facing video camera, a longer battery life, and thinner form factor compared to its predecessor.

The Android 2.2-based 3G smartphone will be priced at $199.99 with new two-year contract.

The phone operates in 800/1900MHz 3G CDMA EV-DO Rev. A networks, but to expand the number of countries in which it operates, the device adds quad-band GSM/EDGE cellular and 2.1GHz 3G HSPA cellular.

Global-capable phones from Verizon Wireless make voice calls in more than 220 countries worldwide, offer data service in more than 200 counties, and offer 3G data service in 115 countries. Verizon phones that aren't global-capable make voice calls and access 2G and 3G data in 40 countries outside the U.S., including Mexico, Canada, China and India.

Other Incredible 2 upgrades include a larger display at 4 inches, up from 3.7 inches; front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera/camcorder to go with the current 8-megapixel rear-facing camera; and DLNA certification to enable sharing of multimedia content with a DLNA-certified TV.  Exact specs on talk/standby time and size weren't available.

Like its predecessor, it features 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, 720p video capture, 3G mobile hotspot to connect up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices, and HTC's Sense user interface.

 Other features include Adobe Flash player, SRS WOW HD audio processing, and automatic face detection for the camera function.

 Purchasers must subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan starting at $39.99/month and an unlimited smartphone data plan is $29.99 for monthly access.

In the Verizon lineup, the Incredible 2 will join global Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global smartphones.
