Las Vegas –
unveiled a lineup of value-centric LCD TVs with LED backlighting,
new cosmetic styling and Energy Star 5.0 power-consumption levels, in select
models.
The company premiered the eight-model LED LCD TV line a its showcase
in the LV Hilton during International CES.
Following the industry’s trend to shift from CCFL to LED
backlight, Westinghouse’s new line boasts its most energy saving sets to date.
All eight of the planned LED-based models use an edge-lit LED
system.
Westinghouse said all eight models meet or exceed Energy Star 4.0
ratings, which are scheduled to go into effect in the second quarter of 2010,
and six exceed Energy Star 5.0 ratings, which are slated to go into effect in
2012.
Models include the 55-inch LD-55F970Z, which has 1080p resolution
and 120Hz frame rates for smooth fast-motion sequences. It will ship in April
at a price to be determined.
The 46-inch LD-46F970Z will also offer 1080p resolution and 120Hz
frame rate.
The 42-inch LD-4255VX, with 1080p/120Hz resolution, will ship in April
at a price to be determined, and exceeds Energy Star 5.0 requirements. It is
said to use 20 percent less energy than a 100-watt light bulb.
The 32-inch LD-3285VX will be available in April at a price to be
determined. It will also offer 1080p resolution and will exceed Energy Star 5.0
guidelines, using 10 percent less energy than a 60-watt light bulb.
The 32-inch LD-3255VX will have 720p HD resolution (1,366 by 768
resolution) and will ship in April. It exceeds Energy Star 5.0 guidelines and
uses 10 percent less energy than a 60-watt light bulb.
The 26-inch LD-2685VX has 1080p resolution, exceeds Energy Star
5.0 guidelines and will ship in April at a price to be determined.
The 26-inch LD-2655VX and 24-inch LD-2455VX both offer 720p HD
resolution, exceed Energy Star 5.0 guidelines and will ship in April at prices
to be determined.
The company also announced models in its “Greenvue” CCFL-lighting-based
LCD TV series.
Models in the series include the 26-, 32- and 42-inch screen
sizes. All exceed Energy Star 4.0 and California Energy Commission Tier 2
ratings, and include multiple HD inputs.
The sets also are shipped in “eco-efficient” packaging that is made
of recyclable materials and uses soy-based ink.
The 42-inch TX-42F810G 1080p LCD HDTV is available now at a $679
suggested retail.
The 32-inch SK-32H640G carries a $399 suggested retail and
features 720p resolution, and the 26-inch SK-26H640G has 720p resolution and
carries a $299 suggested retail.
