V Inc. Unveils Six Flat-Panel TVs To VIZIO Line

V Inc. met with dealers and the press off site during International CES to announce the addition of six LCD and plasma TVs to its line of VIZIO flat-panel products.

Among the offerings was the VIZIO P42 HDe high-definition plasma panel, which will replace the VIZIO P42 HD, which broke the $2,500 price threshold during the recent holiday selling season.

The new model, which will carry a $2,499 suggested retail price when it ships this month, features an enhanced contrast ratio of 5,000:1, ultra-high brightness of 1,000 cd/m2, and a 60,000 hour lamp life the company claims will last “longer than 32 years” with normal use.

V Inc. said the VIZIO P42 and P46 ED plasmas televisions will retain their position in the plasma line at $1,899 and $3,299 respectively.

Additionally, V Inc. added a VIZIO P50 HD, featuring a 50W-inch screen size and 1,366 by 768 high-definition resolution, a 5,000:1 contrast ratio and a full complement of video inputs including HDMI. The 50W-inch HD display will ship in the third quarter at a $3,299 suggested retail price.

The Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company also announced four LCD TVs in screen sizes ranging from 20 inches to 32W inches. The new VIZIO L32 HD features a 32W-inch high-definition screen size with 1,366 by 768 native resolution, an 800:1 contrast ratio and 12ms response time. It will ship in the first quarter at a $1,899 suggested retail.

The VIZIO L30 WGU is shipping now at a $1,499 suggested retail. The unit features a 30W-inch high-definition screen with 1,280 by 768 resolution, dual tuner PIP and a polarized screen treatment for enhanced contrast.

The VIZIO L13, L20 and L30 LCD TVs will remain in the line.

Meanwhile, V Inc. said it is offering customizable accent view frames (AVF) for LCD and plasma TVs, offering consumers the ability to customize their television for any room in their house. The frames will be available for select LCD and plasma TVs. In addition, each display in the VIZIO HDX series will come with a standard matte black bezel and options that allow for multiple bezel colors to be interchanged by the consumer.

Optional bezels will be available in black pearl, white diamond or renaissance brown, and will carry a $99 suggested retail price, each.

The HDX 20L 20-inch LCD TV, which is currently shipping at a $749 suggested retail, will accept the new frame options. That display features an 800 by 600 native resolution, “lazy Susan” style stand, universal remote control and color-coded connections for easy hookup and operation.

The VIZIO HDX 42P plasma TV, which ships in the second quarter at a $3,299 suggested retail, will also accept AVF frame options. That panel features 1280 by 768 high-definition resolution, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, built-in tuner and universal remote control.

The VIZIO HDX 42P also comes standard with the new VIZIO AV set-top box which includes a single-link cable for easy audio and video connections to any home theater system.
