Sharp Tops In 70”+ LCD TV Dollar Share

Mahwah, N.J. — Sharp Aquos large-screen LED TVs rank as the No. 1 brand in 70-inch-plus class LCD TVs, according to point of sale data from The NPD Group.

Sharp currently offers LED LCD TVs in the 70-, 80- and 90-inch screen sizes, with four resolution options, ranging from entry-level HD to 4K Ultra HD.

The brand has led the category in dollar share for 13 of the last 14 fiscal quarters. NPD confirmed the latest achievement.

Sharp was the first to supply LCD TVs measuring 70 inches and larger in 2011, which is currently the fastest-growing segment of the LCD television category.

“When we introduced our 70-inch-class and larger TVs in 2011, 55-inch was the dominant large screen size,” said John Herrington, Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America (SEMCA) president. “With Sharp’s rapid succession of screen size introductions, we’ve redefined the meaning of large-screen TV.”
