LG Ships 34” Curved 21:9 LCD Monitor

Englewood Cliffs, N.J. — LG Electronics said Wednesday it is now shipping a curved 21:9 34-inch UltraWide  LCD monitor.

LG said monitor model 34UC97 ($1,299 suggested retail) includes an IPS curved UltraWide LCD for an immersive viewing angle to help users view images without distortion from virtually any angle.

LED backlighting produces deep black levels and rich colors at Ultra Quad High Definition (3,440 by 1,440 pixels).

It includes True Color Finder color calibration software to help ensure color accuracy for demanding professional applications.

The 34UC97 supports Thunderbolt 2 for high-speed data transfers — four times faster than USB 3.0 — and allows multiple devices to be daisy-chained together.

A four-screen split feature simplifies multitasking by dividing the screen into up to four sections at eight different screen ratios.

Also included is a Dual-Link Up connectivity feature that allows the monitor to connect to two source devices and display each on a single screen simultaneously.

“Many people spend more time in front of computer monitors than they do in front of TVs, and yet the industry hasn’t delivered the same level of innovation when it comes to monitors,” said Tim Alessi, LG new product development director. “At LG, innovation in display technologies isn’t just limited to our cutting-edge TV products, which is why we are expanding our U.S. monitor lineup with our 21:9 curved UltraWide model.”
