JVC-TV Unveils Flagship 85” 4K UHD Set

New York — AmTran Video formally unveiled here Tuesday the flagship of its JVC-branded 2015 LCD TV line — the 85-inch Ultra HD Diamond-series DM85UXR.

The set, which is scheduled to hit retail shelves the third week of January at a $7,999 suggested retail, will feature full-array LED backlighting with 64 zones of local dimming, to produce deep black levels with strong color saturation.

The screen is also said to produce an expanded color gamut to REC-2020 standards with 10-bit color depth, according to the company.

Drew Pragliola, AmTran sales and marketing senior VP, said the JVC TV will be distributed to those accounts that can provide the sales assistance to fully explain the many features and benefits the set provides.

He added that AmTran is preparing to position the set in upcoming Super Bowl promotions and will work with dealers to adequately demonstrate the advanced up-conversion technology that will allow users to enjoy the benefits of the 3,840 by 2,160 pixel (four times FullHD 1080) 4K UHD resolution from readily available FullHD  content.

The set will fall within AmTran’s “risk free” capabilities — meaning it will be compatible with the latest standard supporting native 4K Ultra HDTV content including four HDMI 2.0 inputs, HDCP 2.2 copy protection, and HEVC H.265 decoding.

For smart-TV functionality, the set will ship with a Roku MHL-compliant streaming stick carrying a large collection of the latest over-the-top streaming app partners. It will not, however, support native 4K streaming.

Pragliola assured future add-on boxes with native 4K streaming support are in the works and will be compatible with the set by the time a ready supply of native 4K UHD content is available.

Pragliola also pointed out that the 85-inch flagship will offer AmTran’s built-in advanced XinemaSound 3D, which provides soundbar-like quality from four built-in down-firing speakers with 15 watts of power each to eliminate the need of an outboard speaker package.

Other features include a slim-bezel design; built-in Wi-Fi for seamless web surfing, and a new double-sided remote with full QWERTY keypad; CrystalMotion Pro motion smoothing technology, delivering 240 scenes per second and CrystalColor XD circuitry offering a 50 million-to-one dynamic contrast ratio.

“Many consumers are still learning about the dramatic resolution advances inherent in Ultra HD,” stated Pragliola. “Seeing is believing. UHD technology was created for much larger screens. The DM85UXR takes maximum advantage of every pixel, and creates a viewing experience that will astound even HDTV purists.”

The 85-inch flagship will complement JVC’s 65-inch 4K UltraHD set, which is currently available in stores for the holiday selling season.

Meanwhile, JVC-TV recently announced it has signed on pro golf legend Stewart Cink as a spokesman for JVC TVs in a branding campaign running now through Oct. 2015.

AmTran will be working with Cink on a number of special events and promotions throughout the year.

Cink, who won the 2009 Open Championship, will represent the JVC TV brand on his headwear throughout the year.

The company also continues to work with the NFL Alumni on its previously announced charity campaign that launched through the Paul’s TV chain earlier in the year and will run through 2017, uniting NFL Alumni players with fans to promote JVC TVs and raise funding the Children’s Cancer Society.
