Hisense Shipping Next-Gen Roku TV

Hisense, which was among the first manufacturers to fully integrate Roku technology into TVs, has begun shipping the follow-up to its debut 1080p H4 model.

The new step-up R6 Roku TV series boasts 4K resolution, HDR and the streaming service’s latest OS, which offers access to 500,000 films and TV shows through 5,000 channels, and sorts search results by price.

The direct-LED sets also feature 120Hz motion rate, Ultra HD up-scaling, a 4K digital media player and DTS Studio Sound audio.

The first shipments were earmarked for Sam’s Club, which is carrying the 50-inch model (suggested retail: $450). The R6 is also offered in 55-inch and 65-inch screen sizes at suggested retails of $550 and $800, respectively.

“We remain dedicated to offering the smart-TV experience consumers demand, and really see our 4K Hisense Roku TV models as a vital piece,” said Hisense USA marketing VP Mark Viken. “Combining the Roku OS with our highly regarded 4K picture technology gives consumers the ability to experience the best entertainment in its most beautiful form.”

The Roku OS also features a curated 4K Spotlight Channel to help owners find 4K and HDR content.

The R6 series made its trade debut last January at CES, where a top-of-the-line 75-inch R8 with Dolby Vision HDR, wide color gamut and full-array back-lit local dimming was also shown. No word yet on that model’s availability.

More recently, Hisense made its CEDIA debut with its 100-inch, $9,999 4K Laser TV in tow, which copped a Best Of Show nod from TWICE and sister pub Residential Systems.
