Amazon Grows Fire TV Lineup

Seattle — Amazon has been busy stepping up the content of its over-the-top (OTT) Fire TV platform.

The company said it has added more than 600 channels, apps and games to the platform in the last three months.

New additions include Popcornflix, Funny Or Die, Fox News and Candy Crush Saga.

In addition, the GameFly streaming service is now available exclusively for streaming-media devices on Fire TV. Using the GameFly service, customers can play such popular PC game titles as Warner Bros.’ “Batman” series, “Darksiders II” and “Dirt 3.” Game packs start at $6.99 a month, and at launch there were six packs available.

Amazon also offers a companion Fire TV game controller for $39.99.

“The team is working hard and moving incredibly fast to bring even more movies, TV shows, live TV, sports, music, channels, apps and games to the Amazon Fire TV platform every week, and it shows. Amazon Fire TV selection has grown 127 percent in just the last six months and is continuing to accelerate,” said Steve Rabuchin, Amazon Appstore VP.
