LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. — Since being named the new president of Coby Electronics last month, Mike Troetti said he will look to expand the valuedriven electronics vendor’s distribution, focusing on midsized accounts that can help to drive the brand message.

Troetti, who is the former president of Sharp Electronics’ U.S. marketing company, was brought into the company in a corporate realignment that saw Young Dong Lee, Coby founder and former president, shifting to the CEO role, while Sam Oh, former senior VP, advanced to COO.

Troetti’s extensive background in TV marketing and sales should also help grow Coby’s expansion into the larger-screen LCD TV business.

“Coby has made great strides entering new markets and product categories and achieving robust sales even in a recessionary climate,” Lee said in a statement announcing the moves. “The new structure of our executive leadership is part of our longterm strategic vision to ensure solid, broadbased growth well into the future.”

Troetti will leverage his nearly 30- year experience in the consumer electronics space — he earlier served at Panasonic for 23 years rising to the level of president of the home and commercial products division — to build relationships for his new company.

He will also implement new longrange goals and strategies for continuous growth, while reporting directly to Oh and Lee.

Oh called Troetti “a tactical thinker who will contribute in very real and important ways to Coby’s growth and prominence in the CE industry.”

Under the new corporate structure , Troetti will lead an executive team including: Joe Giametta, sales VP who is a six-year company veteran, and Michael Paladino, senior marketing manager, who has led Coby’s brand marketing and product development programs since joining the company in 2009.

Also reporting to Troetti will be Raymond Kim, finance VP; Jones Kim, global planning controller and director; Daniel Song, operations and global credit director; Charles J. Alaimo, global human resources director; John Fletcher, purchasing manager; and Vincent Castiglione, general counsel.

“I want to go after more of the NATMand PRO Group-type dealers, because I think we can offer a good value proposition to them,” Troetti said of his early target in his new post. “By category, the company is focused most on MP3 players today, but for growth we are looking at LCD TV in larger screen sizes.”

The company is also a growing supplier of digital photo frames, portable DVD players, stereo headphones, DVD players and Snapp! compact digital camcorders.

Meanwhile, in his new role as CEO, Lee will focus on reinforcing and expanding Coby’s operational efficiencies to grow the overall worldwide business.

Oh will concentrate on identifying future designs and trends to execute the company’s long-range product development strategies.
