NRF Changes Annual Conference Name To Shop.org 2017

New format being presented this year 3/17/2017 11:00:00 AM Eastern

The National Retail Federation (NRF) announced it has changed the name of its annual e-commerce conference, from Retail’s Digital Summit to Shop.org.

Shop.org is also the name of the NRF’s digital division. NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay said the rebranding reflects the trade association’s “desire to focus on qualities that differentiate us from our competitors and stay ahead of the innovation curve in the retail industry.”

The conference, slated for Sept. 25-27 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, will feature educational sessions, keynotes and an exhibit hall.

New this year, the exhibit hall, main and feature-stage keynotes, and breakout sessions will all be on one floor, allowing attendees to more easily interact and network in one spot, said NRF. The exhibit floor will now be divided into sections based on product categories, and a podcast studio will host podcasters discussing e-commerce, technology and retail trends.

The Innovation Lab, another new feature, will enable attendees to experience shopping in the very near with products and technologies expected to impact the digital retail industry.

“As retail continues to evolve, so will the content and format of our shows,” said Susan Newman, NRF senior VP. “Our transformation strategy is focused on leveraging ways to improve the audience experience by providing insight and content that allow retailers to continue evolving in this new era of the digital consumer.”

The two-day conference will include keynotes from NRF chairman Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSNi; Danielle Weisberg and Carly Zakin, founders of The Skimm; Mariam Naficy, founder and CEO of Minted.com; Adam Grant, author of “Originals”; Adam Goldenberg, co-founder and CEO of TechStyle Fashion Group; and Trevor Hardy, CEO of The Future Laboratory.

More speakers will be announced in the next few weeks.
