LeapFrog Ships LeapPad2

Emeryville, Calif. — LeapFrog Enterprises announced its latest kid tablet, the LeapPad2, is now available.

The device, geared toward children ages 3 to 9, was announced two months ago and is currently available in green or pink for a $99.99 suggested retail or as a Disney Princess bundle for $129. The latter adds a specially designed frame, carrying case and seven Disney Princess wallpapers. 

Features include 5-inch screen, 4GB of internal memory, 550MHz processor, headphones jack, USB port, and  cameras in the front and back of the tablet, with both able to take still images and record video. The LeapPad2 uses four AA batteries, with battery life listed at nine hours, and it can also use an AC adapter.

Built in are several songs, a Cartoon Director download to create animated movies, music player, Art Studio, a game and a free download from LeapFrog’s App Center. Apps cost $5 and cartridges cost $24.99. 

Users can also load Ultra eBooks, which is the company’s term for interactive e-books. They are designed automatically adjust the reading level “to challenge kids at just the right pace,” with three levels available.

 LeapFrog is also introducing several new accessories for the tablet, including a video display case ($19.99), fashion handbag ($19.99), car adapter ($14.99), gel skins ($9.99) and recharger pack ($39.99).
