Irvine, Calif. — Toshiba’s digital products division introduced Tuesday an affordable 4.8-pound DLP projector with TI’s BrilliantColor technology designed for home theater, institutional or mobile business applications.

Model TDP-SP1U, which carries a $719 suggested retail, is said to offer an extended lamp life of up to 4,000 hours in economy mode and produces 2,200 ANSI lumens of brightness, a 2,000:1 contrast ratio (full on/full off), and native SVGA 800 by 600 pixel resolution.

Toshiba’s TDP-SP1U ($719 suggested retail) DLP projector weighs in at just 4.8 pounds.The projector is covered by Toshiba’s two-year standard limited warranty.

Other features include manual digital keystone correction, automatic setup on a fully loaded presentation remote, password protection and key-lock function, HDTV/DTV signal compatibility, special monitor-out capability and a 2.0 watt speaker.
