Reno, Nev. — A sound bar is being introduced that’s thinner than many flat-panel TVs and delivers virtual surround sound and bass down to 45Hz.

The SLIMstage from Soundmatters packs 210 watts of Class D amplification, Euphony HD virtual-surround technology, four main speakers and nine bass drivers in a single 3.3-inch by 3.4-inch by 39-inch chassis. It delivers bass down to 45Hz without external subwoofer and “pinpoint” surround-sound imaging from stereo and 5.1-channel sources without reflecting sound off walls. A front-panel input connects to MP3 players.

It’s expected to retail for less than $1,000 when it ships in the second quarter.
