Garden City, N.Y. - TDK has started shipping the new multi-format Indi DVD burner.

The AID+840 Indi features DVD plus, dash and CD-RW burning capability in one internal drive. The unit began shipping on Nov. 5 with a $249 suggested retail price.

The Indi has write speeds of 8x DVD+R and 4x DVD+RW, 4xDVD-R and 2xDVD-RW. It reads all DVD media at 12x and has a 40x CD write speed. At 8x speed a 4.7GB DVD disc is burned in about eight minutes, the 40x CD drive burns a 700MB CD in three minutes.

The model is bundled with Roxio CD and DVD Creator 6.1, Roxio PhotoSuite Lite and Roxio DVDMax editing software
