Verizon Adds 18.4-Inch Samsung Galaxy View Tablet

Verizon joined AT&T in offering an LTE-equipped version of Samsung’s 18.4-inch Galaxy View tablet, whose large screen and built-in carry handle and stand are targeted to people who consume a large portion of their media on a mobile device.

The Android tablet features FullHD 1080p display and “video-centric” interface with a dedicated video home screen showing all content apps in one place. It comes with two-way stand, built-in stereo speakers and eight hours of video playback on one charge.

Samsung unveiled the Wi-Fi version of the tablet last October at a suggested $599, and last November, AT&T rolled out the LTE version with streaming of more than 100 DirecTV channels for DirecTV subscribers.

The tablet features Android 5.1 Lollipop, 1.6GHz octacore processor, 2GB RAM, 64GB storage, 128GB MicroSD card slot and 5,700 mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy View is available at Verizon’s destination stores and online at VerizonWireless.com at $499 with two-year contract or $599 without. Without contract, the tablet is also available on an installment-payment plan at $24.99 per month for 24 months.

The View can be added to an existing Verizon shared-data plan for $10/month. Shared-data plans are available in five amounts from 1GB for $30/month to 18GB for $100/month.
