Sprint Adds Its First LG Tablet

Overland Park, Kan. – Sprint will offer an LG tablet for the first time on March 13, equipping it with LTE and offering it free with two-year contract to users who have a Sprint smartphone.

The tablet became available late last year through Verizon, which also joined AT&T in offering the G Pad 7.0.

Without contract, Sprint will offer the G Pad 7.0 unsubsidized on the Sprint Easy Pay installment-payment plan for $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $10 for a total of $240. For a limited time, Sprint will also offer two promotional bundles consisting of the tablet and LG smartphones.

The tablet will be sold in all Sprint retail channels.

It features Sprint Spark tri-band LTE, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 7-inch WXGA IPS display with Zero Gap technology for wide-angle viewing, 8GB memory, 128GB microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 4,000mAh battery, and 5- and 1.2-megapixel cameras.

The white version will be available March 13, followed by the black version on April 10.

It also comes with LG’s proprietary QPair 2.0 and Knock Code UI features. Qpair uses Bluetooth to connect the tablets to an Android smartphone, turning the tablets into a phone extension. Consumers can use the tablet to receive and respond to the phone’s SMS and MMS messages and answer an incoming call using the tablet’s speaker.

Knock Code lets users power on and unlock the tablet by tapping the screen using three to eight combinations of knock patterns. A knock pattern can be entered on any area of the screen even if the display is off.

Other key features include dual window, which splits the screen so that two apps can run simultaneously. The feature also lets users drag and drop content from one window to another.

G Pad F 7.0 also features Peel, an app that controls a TV or DVR and ties into social media to complement the viewing experience.

Gesture Shot lets users take a selfie with the front-facing camera by gesturing with their hand to start a countdown.

SmartShare Beam lets users share music, videos, photos and documents to other compatible devices.
