Overland Park, Kan. – Sprint will add an LTE-equipped version of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 to its portfolio of cellular-equipped tablets.

The device, priced at an introductory price of $49 with a two-year service agreement, will be available Oct. 11 through Sprint’s direct and indirect channels, a spokesman told TWICE. The tablet will be available initially in white followed by a black version in time for the holidays.

The device, which is also offered by other LTE carriers, will join other tablets that operate on Sprint’s 1,900MHz LTE network. They are the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Apple iPad, and Apple iPad mini.

Purchasers of the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 can get a data plan for as little as $5/month if added to a current account. The tablet is also eligible for Sprint’s new One Up upgrade program that gives customers the ability to upgrade a device every 12 months.

Sprint has not yet announced the smartphones or tablets that it will offer with LTE tri-band capabilities.

Sprint provides 4G LTE service in 185 markets and is targeting LTE availability to 200 million people by the end of 2013.

The 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3, unveiled in June,  features Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), 1.7GHz dual-core processor,3-megapixel rear-facing camera, Samsung for Enterprise technology for enterprise security and control, and 3G/4G LTE mobile hotspot supporting up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously.
