Savant Adds In-Wall Lightning Docks For Home Control

Hyannis, Mass. – Home automation supplier Savant Systems unveiled a trio of in-wall charging docks that turn Apple mobile devices with the new Lightning connector into Wi-Fi-connected controllers for any Savant home-control system.

One charging dock is for the iPad Mini, a second is for the full-size iPad, and a third is for the 5th generation iPod. All are shipping.

 The docks are the first in a family of Lightning-compatible docks that will include desktop models and in-wall wired versions. The latter will be designed for high-security enterprise applications, the company said.

 Savant said it is the first home-automation supplier to offer an in-wall home-control dock for the iPad mini.

 The new docks consist of a mounting plate, back-box, and low-profile, magnetically attached bezels, which are available in white, black, almond, polished chrome, satin nickel, oil bronze or paintable primer finish.

 The docks power the Apple devices and lock them into place. Control signals are sent via Wi-Fi.
