Research Triangle Park, N.C. – Lenovo unveiled a series of low-priced Android tablets featuring 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, Android 4.2 OS, and screen sizes of 7, 8 and 10.1 inches.

The Wi-Fi tablets are the 7-inch $129 Tab A7-40, a step-up 7-inch variation called the A7-50, the 8-inch $178 Tab A8, and the 10.1-inch $249 Tab A10, which is also available with optional Bluetooth keyboard at $299. They will be available in May in the U.S., with the A7-40 and A7-50 available at Lenovo.com, the A10 available at select retailers, and the A10 available on Lenovo’s web site and through select retailers. The Tab A7-50 price was unavailable.

A free upgrade to Android 4.4 will be available.

Earlier this year, the company unveiled a step-up 10.1-inch Android 4.3 Yoga tablet at $349 with multimode positioning. It features a cylindrical battery that enables a flap to rotate for use as a kick stand to provide better viewing angles on a table to desk and for using its virtual keyboard at a more comfortable angle.

All new A-series models feature 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 32GB MicroSD card slot, 1280x700-pixel IPS capacitive displays, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0.

The $129 Tab A7-40 features 8GB capacity and 2-megapixel front-facing camera, while the other models step up capacity to 16GB and feature two cameras: a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera. The cameras on all models are fixed-focus.

The A8 and A10 add the Dolby Audio suite of audio processing, and the A10 adds two front-facing speakers. The A8 and A10 also add 10-finger touch.

Battery capacity increases with screen size. The A7 versions feature 3450mAh lithium-polymer battery, and the step-up models feature 4200mAH battery and 6340mAh battery, respectively. The latter delivers standby time up to 20 days and usage time up to 11 hours.

The A8 and A10 are available in midnight blue, and the A7-40 is available in ebony. The color of the A7-50 was unavailable.

The A7 is 0.39-inches-thick, and the other models are 0.35-inches-thick.

Versions equipped with GSM voice and 3G HSPA+21Mbps data will be available outside the U.S.
