Dell Unveils Windows 8 Lineup

Round Rock, Texas — Dell today fleshed out its consumer Window 8 product line with the addition of a new tablet, Ultrabook and an all-in-one PC.

The new tablet is the $499 XPS 10, which is geared to the mobile professional. The Windows 8, 10.1-inch device is powered by an ARM-based 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. It will be available in 32GB and 64GB configurations, has a 2-megapixel front and 5-megapixel rear camera, dual stereo speakers, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and a MicroSD card readers.

The hybrid Ultrabook/tablet category is the $1,199 XPS 12. The XPS 12 has a flip screen that allows the 12.5-inch display to rotate 180 degrees inside its metal frame so it can be used in tablet mode.

The XPS 12 runs on an Intel third-generation Core i5 2.6GHz processor, has 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM, a 128GB solid-state drive (SSD) and an Intel HD 4000 graphics processor.

Dell has also offered the Inspiron 15z Ultrabook. This 15-inch laptop, $749, is equipped with Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, 6GB of RAM, and a hybrid hard drive consisting of a 32GB SSD paired with a 500GB conventional hard drive. There is also a version with an optional touchscreen priced at $899.

All products are now available for pre-order and will ship on Oct. 26, when Microsoft officially releases Windows 8.
